The Messerschmitt Bf 110, the elegant twin tapered fuselage, was born in the mid-thirties, at a time when the main air forces wanted to have a hunter both tough and heavily armed.
After starting relatively convincing in Poland in September 1939, units of Zerstörer (destructive), yet composed of the elite of the German fighter, suffered a rapid decline punctuated by heavy losses, so that at the end of Battle of Britain, barely a year after its commissioning, it was decided to remove the Bf 110 service and cease production.
After the failure of the Me 210, his designated successor, the Bf 110 enjoyed a second career in a role for which it was not intended, hunting at night.
And it must be said that this second career was infinitely more glorious for Zerstörer.
Indeed, in this new job, twin, whose production was maintained until the end of the war proved to be a formidable opponent
